Jose Manuel Pinto will be called into action against his old club Celta Vigo today at the Estadio Municipal de Balaídos. With regular keeper Victor Valdes banned for four games due to the controversy with the referee at the Santiago Bernabeu, the doors have been opened for the keeper from Cádiz which will spark many memories as Pinto spent 10 years of his career at Celta Vigo.

Xavi Hernandez to save himself for Paris Saint-Germain clash

Xavi Hernandez is set to save himself and not play against Celta Vigo on Saturday in Barca’s La Liga game. The Barcelona midfielder played the full 90 minutes of the World Cup qualifier against France, in which Spain won by a goal to nil, suffered some discomfort in his hamstring – a problem that has been dragging on for some time.

Barca chasing Mats Hummels according to Sport Bild

Barcelona FC is chasing for the signature of 24 year old Mats Hummels. According to German sports weekly, Sport Bild, Hummels has a market value of around 25Million Euros and Borussia Dortmund say that they have no intention of offloading their valued central defender. Mundo Deportivo reported that Barca had plans to sign a central defender but wouldn’t do so until Vilanova returned.

Valdes and Pedro put France to the sword

The Spanish national team La Roja silenced France in a one nil thriller in the Stade de France in Sant Denis last night whilst silencing their critics, too. With a referee who didn’t fancy complicating things and who forgave too freely the France team’s faux pas including a clear penalty, Spain now move to the top spot of the group and one point ahead of their French counterparts.

Sergio Busquets has said that the team couldn’t have asked anything more of Jordi Roura. The defender was talking to Canal Movistar in an interview ahead of the France vs Spain qualifier tonight in Sant Denis and just before Tito Vilanova arrived back in Barcelona after spending two months away from the team receiving treatment in New York.

Del Bosque tight lipped regarding David Villa and Cesc Fabregas

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque is remaining tight-lipped regarding his final eleven players who will face France tonight in the World Cup qualifier at Sant Denis. Apart from the state of the pitch, which has raised a few eyebrows, Del Bosque has not given anything away regarding who’ll make up the final eleven. The coach only has one doubt and that’s between Cesc Fabregás and David Villa.

Barca president confident Vilanova will change keeper Valdes’ mind

FC Barcelona president Sandro Rosell thinks that goalkeeper Victor Valdés will reverse his decision in the summer and stay at the club. Rosell was giving an interview with El Mundo Deportivo and says that he is confident that Tito Vilanova can keep Valdes at the Catalan club. The president also acknowledged that he still doesn’t know the reasons for the keeper wanting out of the club.

Jordi Alba out of both legs of Paris Saint Germain clash

FC Barcelona has received some bad news this weekend regarding Jordi Alba.According to Catalunya Radio, the Barca medics confirmed the player has a tear in his femoral biceps of his right leg. On Sunday Jordi Alba will report to the Joan Gamper training ground and undergo an ultrasound check to confirm the extent of his inuries.
