Barca’s Xavi Hernandez, who played in Tuesday’s one nil win over France in Paris with a recent hamstring injury, has taken its toll and has suffered some discomfort in the hamstring of his right leg. The Catalan midfielder is doubtful for this Saturday against Celta Vigo and he will not force himself to get fit so as to be 100 percent for the important clash against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Xavi travelled with the Spanish team without a medical discharge on his hamstring rupture which had been dragging on for weeks and played the full 90 minutes of the match against France in the World Cup qualifier at the Stade de France stadium in Saint-Denis.
Spain now heads the group with France right on their tail and trailing by just one point.
The Barca midfielder had been working out on Thursday doing physiotherapy in the Barcelona sports city.
Also joining Xavi is Adriano, Puyol, Jordi Alba and Pedro – neither of which be playing against Celta Vigo on Saturday. Adriano and Puyol will also miss the clash against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League while Jordi Alba, who was injured in the match against Finland playing for Spain, is doubtful for this crucial game.
Spain’s goal scorer against France Pedro is suspended, so would not be playing against the French outfit anyway.
It will now be interesting to see how Barca performs with Vilanova on the bench once again.
What I want Tito to do is that, he should teach his boys how to shoot from outside the box and also move back when their opponents have the ball.
