Messi unstoppable against Cordoba in La Copa del Rey

Leo Messi was truly unstoppable against a bullish Cordoba last night at the Arcángel stadium. The Catalan team led by Tito Vilanova won by 2 goals to nil and although the team from Andalusia caused few real problems for Barca, they put up a tremendous fight and show for their very deserving fans.

Barcelona to pay tribute to Deco

Next Sunday Barcelona will pay tribute to one of their former outstanding stars: Anderson Luis de Souza or Deco as most fans will know him. The player was unable to receive a sending off as he left by the back door in 2008 when Guardiola took over from Dutchman Frank Rijkaard. Deco will be paid tribute at the Barca vs Athletic Madrid game next Sunday.

Leo Messi has four major goal-scoring records and milestone to break according to the official website of FC Barcelona. Messi has just broken the 40 year old record of German legend Gerd Muller for which the German himself congratulated him and there seems to be no stopping the Argentine breaking more records in the very near future.

Messi breaks record to beat Betis 2-1

Leo Messi broke Der Bomber’s record last night at the Benito Villamarin stadium in Seville where a quality Betis side under the tight rein of Pepe Mel made Barcelona sweat to the final whistle. Barca won by two goals to one and Betis made life tough for the Catalans and hit the post 3 times in their attempts to draw the game.

Bayern Munich show interest in Pep Guardiola

Bayern Munich have surprisingly stepped in the arena and thrown down the gauntlet to ex Barca coach Pep Guardiola showing an interest in contracting his services. Current manager Jupp Heynckes has a contract until the end of the season but could leave in May of next year when he turns 68.

Tito Vilanova: “If Messi travels on Sunday it is because he can play”

Barcelona FC coach Tito Vilanova has said at a news conference held this Saturday that if there are no setbacks, Leo Messi will play against Betis on Sunday. The Argentine star completed a training session earlier on today without any discomfort but Tito refused to say whether Leo would be in the starting lineup.

Leo Messi is made of rubber

Lionel Messi seems to be made of rubber or out of some indestructible material these days. It wasn’t always the case though as before Pep Guardiola took over at Barcelona Messi was often injured and out for time. Guardiola changed his squad’s eating habits and training regime and now the Argentine is virtually injury proof.
