Brazilian footballers choose Messi as best in the world

According to a survey carried out by Brazilian web portal UOL Esporte among 100 players from 15 different clubs in Brazil, Barcelona’s Leo Messi is the best in the world. The survey was completely anonymous and the players came from such clubs as Flamengo, Santos, Corinthians, Vasco da Gama and Fluminense.

Andrés Iniesta to unveil plaque in Albacete

Barcelona and Spain international midfielder Andrés Iniesta is set to unveil a plaque in the Sports City in Albacete on Wednesday 27th December. The club has forecast that thousands of fans will turn up to give tribute to Andrés whose wineries are one of the sponsors for the Albacete first team.

Valencia asks for Isaac Cuenca on loan

Valencia have asked for Barca youngster Isaac Cuenca on loan and are awaiting an answer from Barca. Valencia want Cuenca to reinforce their squad as they will miss Feghouli who will be on international duty in the Africans Cup with Algeria. Valencia are not the only ones interested in him as both Granada and Valladolid have made inquiries.

Barca’s Pinto renews contract until June 2014

Barca’s charismatic number two goalkeeper has just renewed his contract that’ll keep him at the Catalan club until June 2014. 37 year old Jose Manuel Pinto who was born in El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, Andalusia, came to Barcelona on loan from Celta in the 2007/8 season and has played 52 games for the club.

Barca on autopilot beats Valladolid by 3-1

Barcelona played true to their style and punished Valladolid by three goals to one. Barca’s goals came from Xavi, Messi and Tello. David Villa came off the bench in the second half substituting a very poor Alexis Sanchez who is starting to cause concern amongst the fans, missing an open goal in the first half of the match at the Jose Zorilla stadium.

The future of ex Valencia star and Barcelona forward David Villa looks bleaker than ever at the moment. Coach Tito Vilanova doesn’t count on him for important matches and Villa is becoming increasingly agitated by being left out on the bench. David Villa looks like he’ll be leaving soon and may leave in January.
