Lionel Messi is the best player in the world as voted by the vast majority of the Brazilian footballers who participated in a survey that was sponsored by Brazilian sports portal UOL Esporte who published the results yesterday on their website.
According to the survey carried out, the Barcelona and Argentina striker was considered the best player in the world by an amazing 90 percent of the 100 Brazilian players from the fifteen clubs that were consulted.
In second place was Portugal and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo who was only mentioned by 7% of the Brazilians. Coming in at third place with a disappointing 1% that was shared among three players, were Barca’s midfield maestros Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez along with wonder kid Neymar of Santos.
Neymar was also chosen as the best current Brazilian player by 89% of the players participating in the survey. UOL Esporte also clarified that the players who participated voted anonymously and were players from the following Brazilian football clubs: Sao Paulo, Corinthians, Santos, Palmeiras, Cruzeiro , Atletico Mineiro, Flamengo, Vasco da Gama, Fluminense, Botafogo, Gremio, Internacional, Figueirense, Goias and Vitoria.
Next month the world gets to find out if the Argentine superstar is capable of lifting a fourth FIFA Ballon d’Or in a row ahead of Barca team-mate Andrés Iniesta and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
