Tottenham targeting Barca’s Marc Bartra

Several Uk newspapers alleged on Tuesday that Tottenham Hotspur is eyeing Barca’s Marc Bartra, who has also attracted the interest of La Liga clubs Valencia and Villarreal this summer.

Again according to the above-cited sources, the North London club want to request the young Barca centre back on loan for the new season.

Meanwhile, goal.com adds that Spurs have already made an approach for the young star who people are calling the new Gerard Piqué. He’s tall and good in the air and could fit well in Tottenham’s plans who already snatched up Valencia’s Roberto Soldado a few weeks back.

Like Piqué, he has great technical ability and a gift for playing the ball out from the back in true Barca style. Marc Bartra is a new breed of players and he is currently studying a degree to complement his footballing career at FC Barcelona.

Possible relationship to Tottenham’s Belgian starlet Jan Vertonghen

You may recall that in the team of Andre Villas-Boas there is the Belgian international, Jan Vertonghen, a central defender who Barca have their eye on for a possible strengthening of the squad for the coming new season.

Doubts of Tata Martino

Sources in Brussels indicated recently that the club had approached Vertonghen with an offer although, as reported by Spanish sports daily, Mundo Deportivo, the player does not have the characteristics that Tata Martino is looking for in a centre back for the Catalan club.

In any case, any interest in Bartra by Spurs could be related to a possible exit from Vertonghen along with the possible transfer of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.

About Aaron

My name's Aaron and I'm a great Barça fan. I like to tell it like it is and if there is something I don't like about the club or something that needs addressing, you'll know!
