Victor Valdes not to renew his contract with Barca

victor valdes not to renew his contract
The agents of Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes have told the Catalan club at a meeting this afternoon that the goalkeeper will not renew his contract with FC Barcelona that expires on June 30th 2014, according to an announcement made by the player’s representatives, EFE .

A statement forward to the player’s agents said: “The agents of Victor Valdes have made it known to FC Barcelona at a meeting held this afternoon the irrevocable decision by the player not to renew his contract thus avoiding any discussing of economic terms.”

On January 3rd Barcelona’s number one keeper Víctor Valdés said he would not rule out a change of scenery and would like to try “other cultures and other football” in the final stretch of his football career.

When his current contract expires, Valdés will be 32 years and as he has already pointed out before, “keeping goal for Barca is very complicated in every way” and that “he has kept goal for many years and endured all the pressure that it entails”.

As Victor Valdes has said, keeping goal for the best team in the world is very complicated and he is always at the centre of attention. It is so easy to blame a goalkeeper for his errors and the Catalan has done an incredible job for the club. Who’s to blame him if he wants less pressure and to be able try new cultures and new football?
