Cristian Tello looks set to join Liverpool
FC Barcelona’s Cristian Tello looks set for an exit during the looming winter transfer window. As revealed by Spanish Radio MARCA, the player who came through the ranks at the famous ‘Masia’ youth system, looks all set to be part of Brendan Rogers’ Liverpool.
Cristian Tello publicly expressed his disappointment at the lack of playing time he was getting under new coach Gerardo Martino a few months back. “If I can’t play for Barca then I’ll consider leaving”, were his comments at the time. He gave Tata Martino an ultimatum as the youngster wasn’t happy with his lot at the Blaugranas.
Sadly, young Tello has only played ten La Liga games so far this season. He has made the first eleven twice and is yet to score a goal in the Spanish league this season.
The player made the comments during the presentation of some new boots. Cristian Tello signed a new contract last summer and is tied to the club until June 2018.
This is the scenario we pointed out when Tello made his comments. Martino has a difficult job at the helm of Barca and we know he can’t field everyone. It was a shame when Thiago Alcántara left for Guardiola’s Bayern Munich and the Catalan giants are now facing losing Tello to Brendan Rogers’ Liverpool.
Rogers has done a great job at the Anfield club this year and has his team firing on all cylinders. But they slipped up against Mourinho’s Chelsea the other day losing by 2 goals to 1 in a great match with some controversy. Ex Barca man Samuel Eto’o clearly fouled Luis Suarez off the ball in the penalty area, going in hard with his knee. Rogers was furious and Mourinho accused Suarez of “diving”.
Tello will not be allowed to leave during the winter. No chance!
I’m afraid it looks certain that Tello is on his way to Liverpool. I wish him well, he is choosing a great club. Unfortunately he was not going to play regularly here at Barca so he made the right decision. Hopefully he takes the premiership by storm.
I can wait to see Tello @ Liverpool
