As previously reported by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona has also made a parallel formal first offer for Chelsea’s David Luiz,, estimated at about 25M euros, although some UK sources quote that figure to be nearer 40M euros
Liverpool wanted Manchester City to pay £20M for Agger
Danish paper Ekstra Bladet affirms that the proposal by FC Barcelona for Daniel Agger is £17.5M, the equivalent of around 20M euros. Liverpool wanted Manchester City to pay £20M, about 23M euros when they were interested in the Danish defender last year.
Mundo Deportivo also said that while Raul Sanllehí travelled to London to start talks and set the wheels in motion for David Luiz , another emissary of the club would go to Liverpool where there has been formal contact with Daniel Agger.
Brendan Rodgers insists that “Daniel Agger will stay at Anfield
Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers, has confirmed the interest of “several clubs” in contracting the services of Agger, but has stated that Daniel Agger told him that he wants to stay. Rogers says that Agger has given him his word that as long as Rogers wants Agger to play, he will stay at Anfield. He finished by saying that Daniel would stay at the club out of loyalty.
It should be noted however, that Daniel Agger was out of Wednesday’s friendly match against Valerenga in Oslo, where Rodgers appeared before the Scandinavian media.
Daniel picked up a knee injury in Saturday’s game against Olympiacos (2-0) and hopes to play again this Saturday against Celtic in another preseason match.
