Messi, Ronaldo or Iniesta: Who should win FIFA Ballon d’Or?

fifa ballon d'or 2013

That’s the question that is on most fan’s minds at the moment: Who should win the FIFA Ballon D’Or this year?

We know the worthy nominees for the coveted award and in the end it couldn’t be any other than the great maestro Leo Messi, the talented Cristiano Ronaldo or the superb Andrés Iniesta, could it?

Top class talent all playing in Spain and all worthy in my opinion of the award. Each of these professionals have contributed in their own way to make football great, either for club or country and it doesn’t get any better than these three stars.

Will Lionel Messi claim a fourth Ballon D’Or making it a majestic four in a row, or will Ronaldo or Iniesta pip the Argentine hot shot to the top spot and claim the coveted prize. Ronaldo is looking for a second and Iniesta would thoroughly deserve a first.

The magnificent trio are the final three in the race to win the FIFA Ballon D’Or award on January 7th 2013.

Messi is currently on 82 goals and on target to beat the great Gerd Müller’s fantastic record of 85 goals in 1972 when he played for Germany and Bayern Munich. Messi has already beaten Brazilian maestro Pele’s record of 75 goals in a year when he played for Santos in 1958.

One of the biggest contenders is Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, who was the main reason why his club won the league title last season. Ronaldo was also Portugal’s top scorer in the Euro 2012 Championship before they got knocked out on penalties by Spain, who eventually won the tournament.

Spain had a great tournament and the main instigator was none other than Andrés Iniesta. The midfielder took control and led his country to a second successive Euro Championship – an amazing feat. Iniesta also earned himself player of the tournament and he didn’t even score a goal! His influence on the team to get things done and power the midfield engine room for Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque, was priceless.

Andrés iniesta has also been a key player in Tito’s Barcelona and their amazing start to the season. Barca keep breaking records and Iniesta’s quality shines through.

Speaking about the quality of football in Spain, FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke remarked:

“It shows how strong football in Spain is.
“We have seen again what they did at the Euros and it will be interesting to see what happens in the Confederations Cup.”

To find out who wins the FIFA Ballon D’Or we’ll have to wait till January 7th. We now know the three worthy candidates and we wish them all the best of luck.

  1. There’s no doubt Messi is the world best player ever seen he’s still proving with his magical skills and every goal he scores is a record imagine leading Barca to 6 trophies in one season there’s no record remaining for him even now a record for him and the club 40 points in 14 matches and Mullers record i cant even explain how magical of a player he is.
