Gerard Piqué could play in the MLS one day
29 year old Barcelona player Gerard Piqué has been considering his football future and although things are going smoothly at the Catalan club, the player believes that he would like to play in the MLS one day.
The American league is far more competitive now than before and still has the ability to attract top flight players who have reached the end of their careers with the top clubs in Europe. David Beckham for example, is just one of the many players who have triumphed in America, playing for LA Galaxy. The money’s good and it’s a great way to hang your boots up in style.
Gerard Pique explained:”I read that the MLS is the seventh biggest league in terms of stadium attendances, fans are increasingly hooked on soccer in the United States and it would be an attractive option in a few years.”
However, it’s clear that his childhood club is still at the forefront of his mind and as well as having aspirations to be club president one day, the centre-half might just stay put for the rest of his career. That would make Barcelona’s fans very happy indeed.
