Barcelona defender Douglas Pereira looks like being sidelined for at least a month with a muscular problem. This injury just adds to Barcelona’s woes. The Brazilian picked up the injury as a result of a knock in training on Sunday and has picked up a thigh problem that will bench him for four weeks.
On the club’s official website, a statement read: “Brazilian defender Douglas has suffered a thigh strain in training on Sunday and will be out of action for three to four weeks.”
“Douglas was not included in the squad that faced Deportivo and instead trained at the Ciutat Esportiva with the other players who did not travel.”
“The defender will sit out both Copa del Rey matches against Atlético Madrid and the next two Liga matches as well due to his injury.”
We still haven’t seen much of the Brazilian defender who has only played four games for the club so far. Douglas penned a five year deal with the Catalan giants last year but has not been able to make any impact on the club so far.
The 24 year old came from Sao Paulo for £3.2m which could rise by another £1.2M depending on the number of games Pereira gets to play for Barcelona, which doesn’t seem to be too many.
Meanwhile, Barcelona brushed away Deportivo La Coruna at the weekend with an impressive 4-0 win. Goals came from Leo Messi who was on fire and scored a hat trick while Deportivo’s Sidnei rounded off the score with a goal in his own net.
