FC Barcelona and São Paulo Reach Deal for Douglas

douglas transfer agreed

It’s a done deal and not many Barça fans haven’t a clue why. Douglas has signed for Barcelona and the club have made it official on their website. The player has been signed for £3.2m which could rise by another £1.2M depending on the number of games Pereira gets to play for his new club.

Barcelona have just made the cut off as they have been banned by FIFA for two transfer windows starting from the end of August. This signing comes as a surprise to a lot of fans because the Brazilian is virtually unknown outside Brazil and the player is already 24 years old.

FC Barcelona said on their website:

“FC Barcelona and São Paulo FC have reached an initial agreement for the transfer of Douglas Pereira.

The deal will cost Barça four million Euros with performance variables of another one and a half million based on games blocks.

Douglas will travel to Barcelona for a medical at the end of this week, when he will also put pen to paper on a five year deal and be officially presented as the Club’s latest summer signing.

The 24-year-old Douglas is a pacey right wing back who after three seasons, 75 appearances and five goals for his home town club of Goiás signed for Sao Paolo in 2012 .

Over the last three seasons, Douglas has played 95 matches for Sao Paolo and scored four goals.”

An experienced wingback, Douglas is set to join the Catalan giants on a five year deal pending a medical this week.
