FC Barcelona’s Belgian star Thomas Vermaelen looks set to make his debut against Huesca in La Copa del Rey. The centre-back has been working very hard to get fit and be able to prove himself once and for all on the pitch.
The tie will take place on 3rd December and in a bid to get the defender fit, Barcelona’s medical staff led by physician Ricard Pruna along with physio Juanjo Brau, have tailored a plan so that Vermaelen will be fit for the clash against Huesca on Wednesday December 3rd.
The Belgian arrived at the Nou Camp on 9th August from North London club Arsenal FC and hasn’t played a game for Barça yet. He injured himself at the World Cup in Brazil and underwent a two-day medical in Barcelona where the club announced that he would be ruled out for a month.
Six weeks later Vermaelen got some action in the form of a friendly against the Barça B team and the Indonesian U-19 side.Several days later, the Belgian fell foul to the same injury and has been sidelined ever since. Now the Barça medical staff are pulling out all the stops to insure the player is fit to make his first team debut against Huesca in La Copa del Rey.
