Alex Song has impressed at West Ham this season
West Ham United hope to sign Barcelona player Alex Song on a permanent basis it has been revealed. David Gold, one of the Hammers two owners, has been impressed with Song and wants him to continue at the club.
Alex Song has impressed the East London club so far this season and he isn’t even 100% fit yet. With regulars Cheikhou Kouyate and Mark Noble out through injury, Song has had to be at his best to plug the gaps in midfield and hasn’t disappointed at all.
Alex Song is on a season-long loan from FC Barcelona, although he could possibly miss a month of play for his new club for the African Cup of Nations in the new year.
Both Gold and the club’s manager Sam Allardyce have been impressed with Song’s adaptation to West Ham and they’d love to make a long term offer for the player once his loan period is up.
Co owner David Gold recently tweeted his stance on Song when he replied to a fans’ message:
“@Threeirons: @davidgold pls sign Mr Song on a permanent deal David – love his attitude and respect he’s shown our club. Yes I agree. dg

The 27 year old has even been made captain and the Cameroon international revealed his pride on West Ham’s official website:
“I have been captain before at Arsenal but it was a privilege to wear the armband against QPR,” said Song.
“I know Kevin Nolan and Mark Noble have been captains this season but without them, the manager had to choose someone and it was good he showed the trust in me. I just wanted to return that faith and thank him for that responsibility.”
Undoubtedly Alex Song has been a great signing for the hammers albeit on loan. If he continues his great form, he’ll surely be a great addition to the squad as this year West Ham are looking good, especially after their recent performances with new boys Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho putting in some stellar performances for the East End club.
