We all know that Douglas Pereira has just signed for FC Barcelona but there’s not a lot we know about the player. Most people by now know he comes from Brazil and played for Sao Paulo and that’s about it. Below we have posted 10 things about Barça’s newest signing and probably the last for the next two transfer windows.

  • Douglas was born on 6th August 1990 which makes him 24 years old. He’s already played for two different clubs which makes him experienced and Barça like that. He’s played for Goiás and Sao Paulo. Douglas has played in the Copa Sudamericana for Sao Paulo and the U20 World Cup in Egypt for Brazil.
  • He has managed to notch up 170 appearances for Goiás and Sao Paulo. He started at Goiás and spent 4 seasons there before moving to Sao paulo in 2011.
  • FC Barcelona will be his third club and his first European club.
  • Douglas is not afraid of going forward and has scored 10 goals, five apiece for both Goiás and Sao Paulo.
  • He has won four major titles; the Campeonato Goiano in 2009, followed by the Copa Sudamericana with Sao Paulo player in 2012. He has also won the South American U20 Championship and came second at the Egypt 2009 U20 World Cup with his country, Brazil.
  • Douglas follows Barça’s tradition of Brazilian full-backs and he will be the club’s 6th in ten years.
  • He is also the Catalan giant’s fifth Brazilian in the squad if we add him to Adriano, Dani Alves, Neymar and Rafinha.
  • Douglas also happens to be the fifth player to come to FC Barcelona from Brazilian club Sao Paulo. Former Sao Paulo players who came to BAarça include Da Silva, Belletti, Edmílson and Rivaldo.
