Alexis Sánchez shows off the new Arsenal FC kit

Alexis Sánchez has joined North London club Arsenal FC for a fee said to be around the £33million mark. He wasted no time in showing off the new Arsenal kit for the coming season, either.

Sánchez, who impressed greatly at the World Cup has signed for the Gunners on a long term deal. Arsene Wenger should give himself a pat on the back for landing Alexis, who has had to beat off stiff competition from a few top clubs in Europe, including Liverpool, who wanted to land the Chilean as part of a sweetner deal for Luis Suárez.

The Emirates outfit landed the 25 year old Chilean star after outbidding Serie A giants Juventus. Sánchez also preferred a move to North London rather than Liverpool, which put a spanner in the works of both Barça and Liverpool to reach a deal over Suárez. The Uruguayan should be confirmed as a Barcelona player within the next few days if all goes to plan.

Although the Chilean has netted twice in the World Cup as well as scoring 21 times last season, Sánchez has been deemed surplus to requirements under new manager Luis Enrique.

Sánchez thus becomes the Gunners’ second highest signing after Mesut Ozil, who was the club’s record signing 12 months ago. He joins the likes of Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud and a host of other stars including Jack Wilshere.

This will be a welcome change for Alexis although we are still uncertain why the player turned down Liverpool for Arsenal. It will also be a chance for him to prove himself in the best league in Europe, too.

  1. “..although we are still uncertain why the player turned down Liverpool for Arsenal.” Eh? What are you going on about. Haha

  2. Why uncertain? Lfc are a club trading off a history from over 30 years ago. They have not won a league title in about the same time. Last year, aided by a wonder season from the one class player they had and no european football(lfc have been away from cl for many years now) resulted in a high water mark for them. Its something that will not likely be repeated any time soon.
From infrastructure, to stadium, commercial reach and growth, squad.., in no tangiable way are liverpool on Arsenals level in 2014 and going forward. The one advantage, that being worldwide following has now been caught up and even surpassed. So actually, it would have been rather strange if alexis had chosen lfc over Arsenal.

  3. Ha ha, it’s true. Writer is spot on. When was the last time Arsenal won the league J? Last season was the best the gunners have had in years mate. C’mon, who are you gooners kidding. Wenger is an a** hole and you should have ditched him years ago. And Eric man, ha ha to you, the gunners have been a team of “nearly men” for the last 10 years mate. grow up please, lol
