Time was right to move on says Cesc Fabregas

fabregas

Cesc Fabregàs has revealed that the time was right to move on from FC Barcelona. The new Chelsea player has also made it known that he asked to leave the Catalan giants before putting pen to paper in a deal with West London giants Chelsea.

Fabregàs has signed a five year deal with Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea after playing for his boyhood club for 3 years. Cesc left Arsenal to go to Barcelona in 2011 after some fruitless seasons at the North London club where his true potential had not been reached.

In the three years at Barcelona, knocking in some 42 goals and providing 45 assists, Cesc failed to establish himself as a first option ahead of Xavi Hernández or Andrés Iniesta, often attracting the criticism of the Blaugrana fans.

Fabregàs moved to Chelsea after Arsenal refused their right at first refusal and the midfielder insists that he wasn’t forced out of the door. It appears that Fabregàs has got playing for his boyhood club out of his system in my opinion and as he has failed to shrug off the likes of Xavi and Iniesta, has decided to call it quits. who can blame him?

Fabregàs spoke to COPE and said: “There were many, many factors. My numbers weren’t bad, but it’s true that in big games I didn’t manage to find those goals or assists.”

“But I leave satisfied. I have played with my friends and experienced incredible moments in the Nou Camp and outside.”

“For me it was a great period, but it’s over and I wanted to find something new. I left, I asked to leave.”

Fabregas, who is currently on international duty with Spain in Brazil, followed up by saying he is looking forward to the chance to return to the Premier League.

“I know I’m going to be happy,” he added.

“It’s important that everything goes well on the pitch but I lived in London for eight years, I have a house there and my friends.”

“It’s only an hour-and-a-half from Barcelona, but I’m going to a new club and I’m sure it’s going to go well.”

It’s a shame to see Fabregàs leave Barcelona and only time will tell if the Catalans have got it right in letting one of their best stars go.
