Ivan Rakitic’s move to Barcelona is said to be a “done deal”
Spanish sports newspaper are confident that Barça will announce today the signing of Ivan Rakitic. The newspaper have even put the 26 year-old Croatian midfielder in a Barça shirt on their front cover today.
New coach Luis Enrique is said to be an admirer of the Seville midfielder and it appears that negotiations for him have been stepped up since the new coach’s arrival.
Rakitic has a €40m euro release clause in his Sevilla contract that runs out at the end of next season.
The 26 year old Croatian midfielder refused to sign a new deal with the Andalusian Euro League Cup winners and is keen on moving to the Catalan giants before the World Cup starts on Thursday when his national side Croatia take on the mighty hosts Brazil in the opening game in Sao Paulo.
It looks like a deal has been agreed at €17.5m euros with Denis Suarez from the Barcelona B side being offered to Sevilla on loan for a season.
Sevilla will then be able to sign 20 year-old Suarez if he impresses the Andalusian club next season.
Considering some of the transfer figures being aired around at the moment, the signing of Ivan Rakitic for this ridiculous sum of money is a real steal for Barça, considering that the Croatian was one of the best performing midfielders in the Spanish League last season.
