Catalan giants unveil new kit for 2014/15 season

With Luis Enrique about to be announced as the new Barcelona manager, the club have also announced their new strip for the coming 2014/15 season.

Barcelona first team stars Leo Messi, Neymar and Andres Iniesta are among the players to model next season’s design, which takes on a slightly darker tone over previous year’s football strips. Sergi Samper, Edgar Ie and Jean Marie Dongou from the B team also joined the first team stars in showing off the new strip.

FC Barcelona’s official Twitter account couldn’t resist as it unveiled the slogan “Crafted to Win.”

One of the coolest parts of the kit is the Catalan Senyera flag just underneath the collar at the front of the shirt. Apart from the Senyera shirt Barcelona proudly displayed this season, this is the first time the Catalan flag has appeared outside the badge on the home kit.

Makers Nike have implemented plenty of up to the minute technology in the shirt’s fabrication. The Dri-Fit design is utilised to provide “better fitting for comfort and performance,” according to the club’s website. This allows sweat to be drawn away from the body to the exterior of the kit, “where it quickly evaporates.”

The player’s temperature is also regulated through mesh panels on the side of the shirt which is common on Nike’s shirts these days. Lastly and unbelievably, the kit is made using recycled water bottles, ensuring an environmental outlook from the sporting giants.
