La Liga on fire as Barcelona and Atlético take it to the wire

arda and iniesta

In another twist of fate when Atlético could have been crowned La Liga champions, we now find Martino and Simeone’s men going into the last game with both teams with a hand on the trophy.

Real Madrid lost 2-0 to Celta and therefore say goodbye to the Spanish League while Barça drew with Elche in a 0-0 draw and Atlético drew with Málaga 1-1 in a game that denied the rojiblancos a chance to proclaim themselves as Champions on their home ground.

The Spanish League will now be decided at the Camp Nou on 17th May and both teams have one hand on the title. The Spanish league could not have got any more interesting this year as the usual two-horse race between Real Madrid and Barça has been swept aside by Diego Simeone and his excellent Atlético Madrid.

Both teams want to win and the winner will be the club that deserves it most in my opinion. It’s been a long time since La Liga got so interesting and the world of football will be watching next Saturday when these two great clubs go head to head.

It could be the culmination of a glittering new era for Diego Simeone as one of Europe’s brightest and talented new managers or a sense of redemption for Barça and Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino as they try to put behind them a difficult year full of scandals and heartache.

About Aaron

My name's Aaron and I'm a great Barça fan. I like to tell it like it is and if there is something I don't like about the club or something that needs addressing, you'll know!
