Sergio Busquets thinks there is room for improvement

This is the verdict of midfielder Sergio Busquets who says the team can improve on many things whilst lamenting the team’s height as one of the reasons for the poor performance in aerial duels.

Busquets says that the Catalan giants must improve if they are to hang on to their title and catch Real Madrid who drew 2-2 against Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid on Sunday.

Real’s draw and Barca’s win mean the Catalans move to within one point of their eternal rivals and it gives them an incentive to push harder.

It wasn’t an easy game for Barcelona, even though the Azulgrana team was leading by 2 goals to nil before Almeria’s Angel Trujillo headed past Victor Valdés to put the red and whites back in the game.

Barcelona had many chances that went begging but it was up to the old guard to breathe some life into the game in the shape of Xavi and Puyol who both found the net towards the end of the game with central midfielder Sergio Busquets admitting that his side were nowhere near its best.

Talking to Canal Plus after the game, Busquets admitted: “It was not our best game, but we’re a little closer to the leader.”

“There are good things and things we need to improve on, but we leave for our mini-break for the international fixtures in a good mood.

“We need to stop players from scoring in aerial duels, but we’re not very tall. It’s not our strong point.”

The Catalan’s next match is on March 8th against third from bottom team Valladolid, after the midweek international break.

This would be a chance to snatch 3 valuable points and try to catch Real Madrid up in this exciting La Liga battle for the top spot.
