Xavi Hernandez says he is not going anywhere

Xavi Hernandez wants to see out his current contract with La Liga leaders FC Barcelona and says he has no intentions of moving any time soon.

The 34 year-old Barça veteran has been touted to join MLS outfit new boys New York City or Thierry Henry’s team New York Red Bulls, while a career ending move to Qatar, is also believed to be an option for the midfielder.

However, the influential 34-year-old midfielder has now made it clear that he wants to stay at the Catalan club until he retires.

“I’m not going to Qatar or New York, I want to finish my contract with Barca,” Xavi told the official club website.

“I’m staying here, I feel important and useful.

“I’ve been here for many years, there are a lot of memories and we’ve won a lot of titles with this generation of footballers, one look back and you realise that we’ve really enjoyed ourselves.”

Xavi also had kind words to say about head coach Gerardo Martino and his fine work at the club as the team continues to impress as a whole.

“Tata is doing an incredible job with the team,” said Xavi Hernandez.

Barcelona are currently sitting pretty at the top in the Spanish League table level on points with Atletico Madrid with eternal rivals Real Madrid just a point behind in third place.
