Martino rests Neymar, Alexis and Alves

Barcelona coach Tata Martino decided to rest Alves, Neymar and Alexis for the recovery training session at the club’s training ground at the Joan Gamper Sports City after their international duty at the weekend.

Because of the long trip to Asia by the Brazilian national team, where they played friendlies against South Korea and Zambia, the Barcelona boss decided to waive the training sessions for both Brazilian players along with Chilean Alexis Sánchez. The three will now join a training session scheduled for today at 18:00. Sergio Roberto wasn’t present at the training session either as he has a niggling problem in his right leg.

The rest of the Spanish internationals along with Alex Song participated in a gentle recovery session, which also saw yongster Adama Traoré of the Barca B team take part.

As we have seen in recent days, Leo Messi, Javier Mascherano, Carles Puyol and Isaac Cuenca have returned to train with the main part of the squad. None of them has been given a medical discharge from their respective injuries, but they are likely to be soon.

In the case of Messi, Mascherano and Puyol, they can even be included in the squad for next Saturday’s clash in Pamplona against Osasuna in the league.

About Aaron

My name's Aaron and I'm a great Barça fan. I like to tell it like it is and if there is something I don't like about the club or something that needs addressing, you'll know!
