Arsenal FC and Manchester City on Victor Valdés’ trail

Victor Valdes
In his determination to leave FC Barcelona next season, the English Premier League has focused their sights on goalkeeper Victor Valdés. As revealed by the British newspaper The Daily Star, the Catalan stopper is in the sights of both Arsenal FC and Manchester City.

Victor Valdés has worn the Barcelona shirt throughout his entire career and ends his contract with the Blaugrana club at the end of the season, in June 2014. This fact has not gone unnoticed in Europe and the international goalkeeper has many admirers that would like to ‘vie for his services’.

The keeper, from Hospitalet Barcelona, indicated that he wanted a change of scenery and maintains his stance on this: “I have spoken to the club without any problems, but my decision has not changed. I’m happy to stay for the season and then I’ll go” said Valdes.

The intentions of adding some healthy competition for Szczesny at Arsenal FC and a rather irregular start to the season for City’s Joe Hart have led the London club and Manchester City to start making moves towards the Barca goalkeeper.

With many Spanish players now playing in the English Premier League, Valdes won’t feel out of place. The Spanish Swansea of Michael Laudrup who has his team playing some very good football, managed to draw with Brendan Rogers’ Liverpool last night with a goal from ‘Michu’ to make it 2-2 at Swansea’s ground.
