Pinto injured due to state of pitch

Jose Manuel Pinto retired from FC Barcelona’s training session in the stadium where the Catalan giants are to dispute their final match against Malaysia today as part of their Asia Tour pre-season.

The goalkeeper left the training session with knee problems, an injury that was a product of the poor state of the pitch in the stadium.

Pinto’s injury increases the club’s concern about the state of the grass at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, a 110,00 all-seater stadium just south of Kuala Lumpur.

Therefore, Barcelona Football Club has threatened to not play the game tomorrow if there are no guarantees.

This is one of the last things that Barca needs right now: injuries. With the new season about to start and most of their stars in great condition, the last thing that the Catalan club want is to start the season with player’s on the bench.

The Catalan giants simply cannot afford to chance their athletes on a pitch that could cause more harm than good and therefore, we applaud Barca’s decision to ask for certain guarantees.

Yesterday, it was Barca’s number 2 stopper José Manuel Pinto, but what would happen if it were Messi, Neymar, Xavi, Iniesta or any other key piece of the Barca team? Food for thought, I think.
