Rooney interest from Barca quashed

Wayne Rooney is apparently dreaming of wearing the coveted Barca strip. This is what British newspaper The Sun alleges and who says that the striker would opt for the Catalan club as his preferred destination, even though the player doesn’t figure on Barca’s list of possible recruitments. Rooney’s transfer would cost around 30 million euros and the Catalan club has already signed another striker in the shape of Neymar.

The England striker is adamant that he wants out of Old Trafford. His future is still uncertain and bids for the marksman are red hot. Rooney will meet on July 1 with the new coach David Moyes to discuss his future. One would remember that the player was singled out and booed by his own fans last season, which led him to want a change of scenery. Rooney’s young son has also been pictured by the world’s press in a Barca strip.

Wayne Rooney’s first option says ‘The Sun’, would be without a doubt, FC Barcelona although there are other big clubs very interested in him such as Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal and even Paris Saint-Germain. “Barça is the number one choice of Rooney,” says the British newspaper.

Despite these alternatives, Rooney’s dream is to wear the Barca colours. His transfer would be close to 30 million euros and Barca has just signed Neymar and would therefore not contemplate the arrival of another striker. Barca’s technical management are working on other fronts and the central position is marked as a top priority.

The same newspaper pointed out a day before about the possible interest of Barca for Wayne Rooney as an alternative to David Villa, but the club has never confirmed that interest.
