Carles Puyol excited about 2014 World Cup

Carles Puyol underwent surgery on Wednesday to remove a Baker’s cyst in his right knee. After surgery, doctor Ricard Pruna explained how long the captain is likely to be out along with his condition and his knee. A Baker’s cyst is a pocket of fluid that forms a lump behind the knee. It is also called a popliteal cyst.

“The objective is that Puyol can start training on 15th or 16th July with the rest of the squad,” said Ricard Pruna, who reported that the operation lasted just 35 minutes and in the afternoon the player was able to go home.

Doctor Ricard Pruna praised Puyol’s self sacrificing spirit: “Puyol cut short his holidays for surgery and will give up the rest of them in order to be ready on 15th July.” Speaking about one of the main objectives of the defender, Pruna had this to say: “The player has expressed great enthusiasm in going to the World Cup in Brazil as it ‘s a very special World Cup for him”.

Neymar and Abidal

Dr. Pruna also spoke about Barcelona’s new signing, Brazilian wonder kid Neymar and his current physique. “A first impression is that Neymar weighs around 64.5 Kg. He should put on a few Kg,” he said.

When asked about Eric Abidal and his medical condition, which has been the cause of his lack of continuity at the Catalan club, the club’s medical services simply referred to the words of Barca president Sandro Rosell when he made the news public about Abidal not continuing at the club.

About Aaron

My name's Aaron and I'm a great Barça fan. I like to tell it like it is and if there is something I don't like about the club or something that needs addressing, you'll know!
