Cesc Fabregás sticks boot in over Gareth Bale price

Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregás stuck the boot in with his comments about Tottenham’s Gareth Bale and the £100Million price tag that Real Madrid has put on his head.

Cesc Fabregas reckons that Real Madrid would be “foolish” to shell out such a high figure for one of the Premier League’s top players says the Uk daily newspaper The Sun.

We don’t know whether Cesc has a bout of jealousy but declared that: “Spending £100m on Bale is foolish, I don’t know how any club could spend that amount of money.”

It’s quite surprising especially when Manchester United offered to shell out £47M for 26 year-old Cesc himself when many clubs would balk at such a high figure for the Barca midfielder. We very much doubt that Wenger would fork out that much for his return to the Emirates should that ever happen.

Although the former Gunner has been linked with a move back to the English Premier League with Arsenal FC and Manchester United, Fabregas insists that no talks have taken place. He also insists that he wants to stay at Barcelona despite not having one of his better seasons and falling out of favour with both Vilanova and the fans.

Speaking about his club Barcelona, Cesc had this to say: “I want to triumph in Barcelona. I dreamed of playing there, so I will try and succeed for as long as I can.”

Fabregás hopes to play alongside new boy Neymar and Messi in Tito Vilanova’s “new look” Barca. The Catalan club look like that will be splashing more cash soon and one of the coaches favourite defenders, Thiago Silva of PSG has even lowered his tab and is keen on talks.

Barca’s main priority this week however is to get it’s own batch of unwanted players on the move in an effort to bring in some much needed cash in order to sign at least two more stars. With Spain’s U-21 side triumphing last night over Italy (2-4) with Thiago Alcántara scoring a hat trick, Barcelona can get on with the job of transferring him which could be Manchester United, who are willing to pay the player’s buyout clause of 18M Euros.
