Barca’s Pinto renews contract until June 2014

Barca’s charismatic number two goalkeeper has just renewed his contract that’ll keep him at the Catalan club until June 2014. 37 year old Jose Manuel Pinto who was born in El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, Andalusia, came to Barcelona on loan from Celta in the 2007/8 season and has played 52 games for the club.

Barca on autopilot beats Valladolid by 3-1

Barcelona played true to their style and punished Valladolid by three goals to one. Barca’s goals came from Xavi, Messi and Tello. David Villa came off the bench in the second half substituting a very poor Alexis Sanchez who is starting to cause concern amongst the fans, missing an open goal in the first half of the match at the Jose Zorilla stadium.

Alex Song and Adriano to sit out tonight’s game against Valladolid

Ex Arsenal midfielder Alex Song and Brazilian wing back Adriano are to sit out tonight’s game against Valladolid at the José Zorilla stadium. Both players are injured, Song with some pain in his left calf and Adriano with discomfort in the adductor muscle in his left leg.

David Villa’s future at Barca looks bleaker than ever

The future of ex Valencia star and Barcelona forward David Villa looks bleaker than ever at the moment. Coach Tito Vilanova doesn’t count on him for important matches and Villa is becoming increasingly agitated by being left out on the bench. David Villa looks like he’ll be leaving soon and may leave in January.

Carles Puyol: “Tito was cheering us up in the dressing room”

Carles Puyol has said that it was Tito Vilanova the one doing the cheering up in the Barca dressing room when he heard the news about his relapse. The Barca captain says that it will be business as usual at the Nou Camp and the team just have to continue what they are doing now and not get sidetracked.

Tito Vilanova to undergo surgery today in Barcelona

As Barca coach Tito Vilanova undergoes surgery today at the Vall d’Hebron hospital in Barcelona, he has vowed to fight his cancer for his two children, Adrìa, who is part of Barcelona’s youth academy and younger daughter Carlota. Tito has assured his squad that everything is under control and that it’s not as dangerous as first thought.

Fergie speaks with Guardiola again

It appears that Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson has had another meeting with ex Barca coach Pep Guardiola in New York where both men have apartments. Fergie was in NYC this week with his wife when the two gentlemen of football met up. Fergie would love Guardiola to take the helm at Manchester United when he finishes his sabbatical.

Tito Vilanova steps down as Barcelona boss

Barca boss Tito Vilanova has stepped down as coach after suffering what appears to be a relapse of a tumour he had removed last November. Vilanova underwent surgery to remove a growth on his parotid gland and now the club is looking for a temporary replacement for him. The official website of FC Barcelona will make another statement later today.
