Barca brushes Levante aside with 4 goals

leo messi scores against levante

Barca took control of the match against Levante last night and brushed them aside with 4 goals.

Goals came courtesy of Messi, with another fine brace, Andrés Iniesta and Cesc Fabregás.It was a convincing scoreline at the end of 90 minutes and Barca has an 11 point lead over Real Madrid who lost by a goal to nil to Betis on Saturday despite having Benzema’s goal wrongly disallowed for offside and a clear handball in the area.

Tito Vilanova was quick to reiterate that the league is far from over, though the fans think otherwise. There is still a long way to go and anything can happen although it’s hard to think that Tito’s Barca will fail.

The magnificent start to this season by Barca has everyone in awe – even themselves. Every game they win now, they are breaking new records. It does seem however, that Barcelona is running away with this season’s league title for sure.

The first half saw a typical Barca presuring Levante but the Valencia team held on and produced some danger. They held on until the end of the first half when it looked like the game could have gone either way.

It was not to be however and Barcelona found another gear at the start of the second half. Messi’s first goal on 47 minutes signalled the goal rush that was to soon follow. As he so often does, Messi was met with the keeper rushing out and the little Argentine scooped the ball over him and into the net. Just 5 minutes after Messi found the net again and bagged another brace of goals – who can stop him?

Iniesta had a great game and found the net on 57 minutes. He made it 3-0 and there was still half an hour to play.He was also the engine that provided 3 assists as well as his goal

Cesc Fabregás popped up on 63 minutes to complete the Barca goal fest. Brazilian defender Dani Alves had to go off on 13 minutes after picking up an injury and was replaced by Montoya.

Levante could have made it 4-1 via a Barkero penalty but blasted the ball at Valdés who also saved the rebound shot.

With this fantastic start to the season, it means that Barcelona have won 12 games and drawn just one in 13 outings – a record that was previously held by Real Madrid.

Barcelona were truly in ruthless form last night and capitalised on Real’s slip up at Betis.
