David Villa ruled out of Euro 2012

Barca’s David Villa has been ruled out of the euro 2012 campaign and will not be playing for his country. This comes as a blow to Villa who has been sidelined for nearly 6 months following a leg break.

Villa had tweeted earlier that “he tried to make it possible but was unable to”. The Barca striker who has had great influence on Guardiola’s team this season will be sad for sure as he really wanted to play and make his mark at the Euro 2012 tournament which starts next month.

David Villa said about the the news:

“I have called the Spain coach Vicente del Bosque to tell him. It’s the honest thing to do.

“I will continue working on returning to play as soon as possible with Barca and the Spanish national team.”

And so ends a nightmare season for the great player who has been out of action since last December. Barca captain, Carles Puyol also joins Villa as a spectator as he has had surgery, too because of a recurring knee injury.

Puyol also misses the final of La Copa del Rey on Friday night at the Vicente Calderon stadium in Madrid against the Lions of Bilbao – Athletic Bilbao.

It looks like it’s going to be a great game and the Barca stars are anxious to bring this one home so coach Guardiola can go out on a bang! If Barca happen to win the cup, it will be back to the Camp Nou for some amazing celebrations along with a few surprises – according to the club.
