Messi aims for top goal scorer

Madrid won the league last night at San Mamés but Leo Messi is not giving up on being the league’s top goal scorer. Barca beat Malaga 4-1 last night at the Camp Nou and Leo got 3 of them – the other coming from captain Carles Puyol.

The Argentine wizard now has 46 goals to his name and is in the lead. Pep’s team didn’t gift Real Madrid the league either with a convincing 4-1 victory over Malaga. Instead, Barca went out and did what comes natural to them and won in style. If Barca had lost the madrid would have walked out at San Mamés knowing that they had won the league, but Guardiola wouldn’t allow that to happen. If Madrid wanted to be league champions last night they would have to work for it. There would be no gifts from Barcelona.

Guardiola acknowledged that Real Madrid were league champions but admitted that “many things had gone on this season” referring to the supposed help that Real had from the referees.

Getting back to Barca, Messi reached another milestone in his career last night: he broke Gerd Müller’s 39-year-old record of 67 goals in a season for a top European club. Messi scored twice from the spot last night and once from open play in which the Argentine showed his fans why he is the best player in the world.

Messi chipped the ball over Kameni who was rushing out to meet him then slotted the ball home – pure magic. This guy is from another planet!

Leo has two more goals than Ronaldo who currently has 44 to his name. Messi left the pitch last night with the ball in his hands in typical Messi shy style – he really is a gentleman isn’t he? On the other hand Cristiano Ronaldo ended the game on an ugly note by giving Javi Martínez two fingers or un “corte de mangas”.
