Andrés Iniesta is confident that Barcelona’s winning ways will not be affected by the 2 window transfer ban imposed by FIFA.
FC Barcelona travel to meet Real Sociedad on Sunday and is confident that the Catalans will snatch all 3 points to continue putting pressure on La Liga leaders Real Madrid.
The main concern for Barcelona is that the club won’t be able to reinforce the team until January 2016. the defense is the one area where Barça have looked less than solid this season and especially the right back area covered by Brazilian Dani Alves, who is not exactly putting in stellar performances at the moment.
However, despite the bad news, Barça are only one point behind Real Madrid who meet Valencia at the weekend.
“It is not even crossing our minds the idea of not winning anything this season,” said Iniesta. “The squad that we have has sufficient quality to win trophies and the important thing is to believe in ourselves and that we can keep improving so as to reach our maximum.
“I don’t know the full legal details but having come through the La Masia myself, I think that the opportunity that it gives to youngsters not only on a footballing level but also personal, is very high.
“We cannot sign now and that is obviously a handicap but we need to concentrate on this season with the players we have and look to win.”
Iniesta has not ruled out Atlético Madrid fighting for this year’s spoils, even though they are currently third in the league table. Atlético face Levante on Sunday and will also be hoping to earn 3 points to start the new year off on the right foot.
“Atlético though are the reigning league champions and it is our job to take the trophy from them. They have done well for several seasons and we know that they will be challenging,” concluded Iniesta.
