2 fans stabbed takes shine off Barça’s win over PSG

Ibrahimovic and Messi

Ibrahimovic and Messi both scored in Wednesday night’s clash

Football violence in Spain has reared its ugly head once more as two PSG supporters were stabbed after the game close to the Nou Camp stadium.

This just comes weeks after supporter was killed following a fight between fans of Atlético Madrid and Deportivo La Coruña. Barcelona won by 3 goals to 1 and the club’s victory has been overshadowed by the incident near the stadium. Messi, Neymar and Suárez got Barcelona’s goals while Ibra managed one for PSG.

The French fans were apparently attacked near the Nou Camp by men wearing balaclavas and a Police statement said that while one remains in hospital with non life threatening injuries, the other one has been discharged.

Just a few weeks back a 43-year-old Deportivo fan died after being pulled from a river following a fight with Atlético Madrid fans.

A statement from the Generalitat de Catalonia’s website read:

“Police officers from the criminal investigation division in Barcelona are investigating the assault of two PSG fans following the Champions League match held in this city last night.
The incident occurred around 11 at night in the vicinity of Camp Nou. A French citizen who left the game was approached on Felipe de Paz street by two individuals, in dark clothes and balaclavas, and was stabbed. The victim, who was accompanied by other PSG supporters, had to be transferred to a hospital, where he remains. One victim suffered a stab wound and had to be transferred to hospital, from where he has already been discharged. The police are working to determine the exact circumstances of the facts and to detain those responsible.”

The game started off in typical fashion and Ibra scored first putting PSG in front. 4 minutes later it was Messi’s turn to get one back and level the score by snatching a goal at the keeper’s far post. Neymar added a second for Barça just before half time, and what a goal it was, and finally it was up to Luis Suárez to make it 3-1 to the Catalan giants to cement themselves at the top of their group.
