After the faux pas by Barcelona’s Gerard Piqué this week when he tells Spain manager Vicente Del Bosque that the Cesc Fabregàs transfer rumour is a “done deal” in a press conference thinking that the mic was turned off, Chelsea players have nothing but praise for Fabregàs.
The price for Cesc looks set at £30 million and Barcelona winger from the Canary Islands, Pedro, is the latest player to voice his views over the “supposed” transfer of his team-mate.
Pedro insists he has not discussed anything with Fabregas over a possible move to Stamford Bridge but believes it would be a blow to lose such a talented player.
“If in the end he’s one of Cesar’s (Azpilicueta) team-mates then that’s a pity for us,” Pedro told Spanish daily sports newspaper AS. “I haven’t spoken to him; he’s happy and focused on the World Cup.
“In my opinion he’s great in midfield, very complete. If he goes it will be a shame for Barça.”
24 year-old Spanish team-mate Cesar Azpilicueta, who is in Washington with the rest of the Spain squad including Fabregàs also had words of praise for Cesc: “At the moment there’s nothing official and he’s a Barca player,” said the Chelsea defender.
“All I can say is what I already know about him. He’s a great central midfielder with plenty of experience in the Premier League. The best players are always welcome at the best clubs.”
“In my personal opinion, he’s a special player.”
Meanwhile, Cesar’s boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed he is interested in bringing Cesc Fabregàs back to London, to play for Chelsea.
