Barcelona interested in Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno?

Barcelona FC has evinced interest in 23-year old Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno. Although it was a mixed season performance-wise for the Seville-born defender at Anfield, there is no doubting his rise as one of the most promising left backs in Europe. There are rumours afloat of Barcelona wanting to offload Adriano and bring in Moreno as the replacement. But even if he were to arrive, he would figure only as a back up to Jordi Alba and could face the prospect of warming the benches for some time.

There is also the notion at Camp Nou that the young Spaniard could be had for just £10 million, which seems unlikely as Liverpool had paid £12 million to Seville to bring him to Anfield last year A reason for Moreno wanting to move to Barcelona would be a shot for a place in the Spanish national side with an eye on the European Cup 2016.

Meanwhile there are murmurs about Jordi Alba hanging up his boots but there is nothing to suggest such a development. He already has extended his stay at Barcelona with a five-year contract that will see him stay at Camp Nou till June 2020. Moreover a buyout clause of €150 million is another indication of how vital the Catalan club considers this 26-year old Spaniard’s presence. Alba who has been around since 2012 has blossomed as a left back and shown superb attacking instincts of late. Alba, who has the ability to move up and down the flanks very rapidly, has been an unseen force in Barcelona’s spectacular success in recent times. The Blaugrana would do well to retain one of the most under-rated players in their ranks at all costs.

Former Barça captain and legend Xavi Hernandez joined club Al Sadd of Qatar. Commending the top-class facilities at the club, Xavi added that he is feeling great to be part of his new team. “The team here is like a family, a group constantly trying for success” he said.
