It may be all hot air or smoke and mirrors but Barça presidential candidate Agustí Benedito wants to land player of the moment, Paul Pogba. Ex Manchester United player Pogba, is in all the top club’s crosshairs at the moment and it appears Barcelona have joined his fan club.
If elected, Benedito claims that he could be able to convince Pogba to move to the Nou Camp for €80 million. 22 year old Pogba has already been made an off by PSG to the tune of €80 million with Premier League big spenders Manchester City set to table a world record bid for the Juventus central midfielder.
Barcelona however, still have the problem of the FIFA ban which has been imposed until January 2016. This would effectively kill off any Barça bid if the player wants a summer move away from the Serie A giants. But presidential candidate Benedito is certain that he will be able to seal the deal.
“I have spoken to Pogba,” he told 8 al dia. “First, I contacted Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli, then spoke directly with the player.
“They have proposed an annual salary of €12m after tax and a transfer fee of €80m.”
Agustí Benedito added that he is in no doubt that he is the right man to take charge of the Catalan giants, even though he admits he is by no means an aficionado of the game, something we view as a bit strange for a future president of one of the most famous clubs on the planet!
“I have a business consultancy which works extensively in Bogota and is centred in the Latin American market,” he said. “I’m a big football fan but I don’t know a great deal about the game.
“I dedicate my time to searching for talent in all parts of the world and, through that work, I have discovered that Manchester United is a club which works incredibly well.”
The club’s presidential race will be decided on July 18th next month.
