FC Barcelona Win Copa del Rey Title

As expected, FC Barcelona easily won the final match of the Spanish Cup last night against Athletic Bilbao 3-1. Messi scored twice in this match while Neymar added another to secure Barca the Copa del Rey title this season and complete their domestic double. With two titles already in the bag, they’ve now set their sights to winning the Champions League final next week in order to complete another treble in just a span of seven years.

Messi was simply unstoppable in this match from beginning to end. He scored the opening goal for Barca in the 20th minute through his own efforts. Athletic have put three defenders on him, but still he was able to evade them and scored one of the spectacular goals in Copa del Rey history. Barça continued to dominate the match after that retaining about 77% of the possession and doing most of the attacks. Finally, in the 36th minute Neymar was able to finally cut through the Athletic defense and double Barcelona’s tally to two goals. The team effort here is simply amazing with Messi, Rakitic and Suarez exchanging passes until Neymar was able to finally score the goal. In the 74th minute, Messi was able to score the third goal for Barca after he was able to pass through the Athletic defense. This sealed the victory for the Blaugrana here. Williams was able to score a consolation goal for Athletic in the 80th minute to make the final tally 3-1 in favor of Barcelona.

Everybody who watched this match agrees that Barcelona were in superb form here, the team effort was simply amazing. The passing between Suarez, Neymar, Alves and Rakitic can be sometimes dizzying to watch, but is still very entertaining. Once again, Messi was the center of attention here as he scored double for Barcelona. His first goal showed his skills as an individual player and his second showed how well he works with his teammates.

Barca’s job in Spain is now complete and now it’s time for them to focus on Europe. Next week, it will be the biggest match in European club football as the final of the Champions League takes place in Berlin. Barca will face Juventus, a side who are also looking forward for a treble this season. Both teams have now completed a domestic double in their respective countries and next week one of them will be able to complete a treble. Every football fan must watch this historic match.
