Friday news: Valdés to Man Utd and Erik Lamela’s cheeky Rabona

victor valdes to train with united

Ex Barcelona keeper Victor Valdés is set to train with Manchester United and possibly sign with them.

32 year old Valdés has been targeted by Louis van Gaal and has been invited by him to train with the Red devils in a bid to get fit again. The ex Barça stopper was ruled out of the World Cup after undergoing a knee ligament operation and left his boyhood club on a free transfer at the end of last season.

Manchester United have confirmed that the Spaniard will be completing his recovery with them under the guidance and watchful eyes of the club’s medical staff before training with the first team.

If all goes well with Valdés rehabilitation programme, the 3 times Champions League winner could then sign a deal and join the Red Devils on a permanent deal.

The keeper had been tipped to join Liverpool but Brendan Rodgers has now pulled the plug on it. Valdés is my opinion is one of the best keepers in the world and never really got a chance to play for Spain while Casillas was in goal. Hopefully under the watchful eye of the Manchester United medical staff, we can see a return to form for the great keeper.

On a side note, Tottenham Hotspur beat Asteras Tripolis by 5 goals to 1 in the Europa League which was capped by Erik Lamela’s Rabona goal. It was totally outrageous and Lamela struck twice, the first a stunning strike that bought White Hart Lane to its feet. The £28m Argentine wrapped his left foot around his right leg to score brilliantly from 20 yards.
It was a breathtaking night of football and a boost for the Tottenham’s fans, who have seen their team produce some mixed Premier League performances this season.
