A Look Into FC Barcelona’s Title Hopes

FC Barcelona kept their top position in La Liga table after an 8-0 rout of Cordoba last Saturday. However, they still lead by only two points over archrivals Real Madrid because the Los Blancos also won their match against Sevilla 3-2 in the weekend. With just three matches still remaining, the title race in the Spanish Liga is still very much open between the two Spanish giants. None of them can afford to lose any of their remaining matches. Let’s see how Barcelona’s chances of winning the title for this season are.

Barcelona’s remaining three matches in La Liga will be against Real Sociedad, Atletico de Madrid and Deportivo. Barcelona won their first meeting this season against Deportivo 1-0. Real Sociedad was able to have an upset win over them 1-0 last January, but Barca were able to score a convincing 3-1 win over Atletico weeks after that. They’re expected to win against Deportivo and Real Sociedad, but the match against Atletico will definitely be very tough.

The Blaugrana can’t afford to lose any of their remaining fixtures because Real Madrid have a lighter line-up of teams to face. Los Blancos will play against Levante, Espanyol and Getafe in their last three matches. They’ve won 2-0 against Levante, 3-0 versus Espanyol and Getafe in the first round of competition. With such convincing wins in their first meetings against these teams, expect Madrid to defeat all of them again in the coming weeks.

Barcelona are now playing in full-strength and many expect that the upset win by Real Sociedad in the first round will not be repeated again. They always have a very tough time playing Diego Simeone’s side, but everyone hope they can win again over this club this time around. Like Real Madrid, they’re also in the semis at the Champions League, so both teams will have a very time ahead. The team that handles the pressure well in tough times like these will surely be the winner, and Barcelona is a side that’s used to having immense pressure hanging over their shoulders.
