Hristo Stoichkov brands Louis van Gaal “scum”

Hristo Stoichkov

Ex Barcelona star Hristo Stoichkov has branded Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal “scum” in an outburst it has been revealed in an article by L’Equipe.

Stoichkov scored an impressive tally of 118 goals in 254 appearances during two spells with the Catalan giants and was also top scorer at the 1994 World cup where he led Bulgaria to an amazing fourth place.

However, his second spell at FC Barcelona was brought to a premature end by Louis van Gaal, following his appointment in 1997, a year after Hristo Stoichkov’s return to the Camp Nou.

Before being shipped out to CSKA Sofia, Stoichkov made just four appearances under van Gaal during his second spell which lasted a year. The ex Barcelona star is in no mood to forgive and forget either saying that the dutchman disrespected his wife.

Talking to L’Equipe, Stoichkov is quoted as saying: “I have no respect for him, he’s scum.”

“One day, when I was injured, I was with my wife at Camp Nou and Van Gaal went up to her.”

“He asked her how it was possible that she married someone like me. She responded that I was a Ballon d’Or winner.”

“The happiest day of my life was when I joined Barcelona and the saddest when I left. And it was Van Gaal’s fault.”
