FC Barcelona vs Granada preview

FC Barcelona vs Granada

After the disappointing game against Malaga where FC Barcelona could only manage a 0-0 draw, it’s the Catalans’ chance to redeem themselves against Granada.

Barcelona now sit in second place in La Liga table with Valencia in the top spot thanks to their 3-0 win over Córdoba. Fans are now saying that this year’s title race is between not two clubs, but five. they are Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia – who are current leaders.

If Barça want the top spot, they are going to have to show the fans they want it in their clash with Granada at the Nou Camp on Saturday evening. There can be no more mistakes and the team need to play with more zest and find those open spaces. Andrés Iniesta rued the other day that it was difficult to score against 9 or 10 defenders, as in the case against Málaga, but that’s what Barcelona’s noted for, isn’t it? They manage to find the golden key to unlock the most tricky defenses therefore, it shouldn’t be used as an excuse. I doubt Pep Guardiola would have used it as an excuse to not score and put the game to bed, so to speak.

FC Barcelona need a decent win so they can travel to Paris for the showdown with Paris Saint-Germain with a clear head. It appears the team is anxiously awaiting the incorporation of Luis Suárez. Speaking to Fox Sport Magazine, Leo Messi said: “It’s special that he chose to come here [from Liverpool]. We will be stronger as a team with him. We will have a lot more variety.”

For the past three years, FC Barcelona have failed to win the UEFA Champions League and Messi said that the Catalan giants had a duty to win it this year:

“For us, it’s not vengeance to return to the Champions League final because it’s our duty to be there. We will try to do it again, as we have always done. We have to get back to winning trophies,” said the Argentine. “The objectives are always the same: to win titles and to show good football. Last year, we failed when we should not have done so.”

Saturday’s kickoff is at 17:00 GMT and it’s a chance for the team to get into the groove before the Paris match.
