Reports coming from Spain suggest that Mats Hummels has turned down a chance to play at the Nou camp for the theatre of Dreams. Hummels, who greatly impressed at the World Cup with Germany, is intending to leave Borussia Dortmund for Old Trafford this summer.
Mats Hummels could be heading over to the English Premier League for around £16million according to sources around the web. Reports from Spain last night suggested that the 25 year old German defender has snubbed a move to the Nou Camp and is relishing the chance to link up with Louis Van Gaal and his new style Man Utd.
Having lost Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja vidic and Patrice Evra, Van Gaal is keen to add some stability to his defense and sees Hummels as the ideal player.
Manchester United are said to be holding talks with Borussia Dortmund although boss Jurgen Klopp insists that neither Hummels nor Marco Reus are going anywhere and said: “Both will stay here this season. There is no tendency they’d want to be elsewhere.
“Did they also say €20m? When papers mention such numbers you know it’s garbage.”
So Klopp, always the charismatic manager, is insisting that the pair are not leaving Dortmund this summer. As with all transfer rumours, you have to take them with a pinch of salt and see how things pan out.
Hummels is one of the best central defenders in the world at the moment and he proved that when his country won FIFA’s most glittering prize in Brazil. At still only 25 years of age, Hummels has a great future ahead of him and would do well if he landed at United.
