After Manchester United’s exit from the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich and Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley appearing to have a good night afterwards, questions must be asked about David Moyes’ future at Old Trafford.
Even Moyes called United’s defending “schoolboy” and with the Red Devils currently sitting in 7th position with little or no chance of Champions League football next year, Moyes’ head looks like being on the block.
According to the Mirror, ‘Manchester United have met with Louis van Gaal amid increasing uncertainty over David Moyes’ future.’
The UK newspaper states that Manchester United representatives have met with van Gaal at a secret location in Europe. Among United’s representatives, one of the Glazers was said to be present.
Could this spell the final moments for the below average David Moyes? Reports in Holland also confirm that United have “sounded out” the Dutchman as a possible replacement for David Moyes.
United have had a dismal season under Moyes and van Gaal could be a possible candidate should he face the axe after the season ends. A lot of the fans also blame Fergie for the poor season and say that Moyes was thrown in at the deep end with many of the problems coming from where Ferguson left off.
United are currently in 7th position in the Premier League, seven points adrift of 4th placed Arsenal. United face the grim prospect of missing out on the Champions League for the first time in 19 years.
And with a budget of £200million set aside this summer to make the Red Devils competitive again, there are doubts over whether the current boss is the right man to oversee that rebuilding job.
