FC Barcelona are poised to meet Osasuna this weekend at the Camp Nou and are desperate to put behind them the two defeats suffered recently at the hands of Real Sociedad and Valladolid.
The Catalans are well aware that back in October, Osasuna were the first team to snatch some points away from them this season. The Catalan giants need 3 points from Sunday’s game in order to keep the title race alive.
After Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League, Barça now need to focus and re-group in their bid to retain their La Liga crown. Martino will not need reminding that any more slip ups in the Spanish League and their chances of holding onto the title may slip away from within their grasp.
With a Barça team full of world class players, it was hard to believe that they scraped a 0-0 draw back in October against a team fighting for survival. However, with renewed enthusiasm and a new sense of purpose, Martino’s Barcelona look like getting back on track following their progression to the quarter finals in the Champions league.
Having said that, Osasuna are in desperate need of 3 points and the team from Pamplona can prove to be a tough opponent, especially in situations like this. Barcelona will not be expecting to walk over them as per usual in La Liga, they will instead, treat them with respect and play their usual game.
Osasuna will not be a pushover as Atlético Madrid found that out in their 3-0 loss to them which put their title hopes in jeopardy, too.
Osasuna boss Javi Gracia will no doubt field his usual 4-2-3-1 formation in a bid to stop the Catalans with ex Barça man Oriol Riera up front leading the attack.
Kickoff is on Sunday at 16:00 (GMT+1)
