Cesc Fabregás keen to stay at Barcelona

Barca’s Cesc Fabregás is keen to stay at the Catalan giants despite lots of interest from the Premier League linking him with a return to top flight English football.

Former Gunner Fabregás, has been linked with a switch to both Manchester United and Manchester City with rumours being heard that a link up with former Arsenal teammate Robin Van Persie might be on the cards this summer.

But the 26 year-old Catalan from Arenys de Mar who has scored 14 goals for his club this season, has no intention of leaving the Catalan giants who have just signed Brazilian hotshot Neymar from Santos on a 56Million Euro transfer deal.

Asked about his future at Barca, Cesc Fabregas told a Catalonian radio station:

“There is nothing to say. I’m very happy at Barca, and I want to stay for many more years to come.”

Fabregás has been used this season as a false number nine, especially with Leo Messi being out injured.

Now with the Argentine back to his old self and the signing of Neymar, it looks likely that Cesc will drop back into his usual midfield role, alternating with Xavi and Iniesta, should he remain at the club.

Fabregás still has 3 years left on his current contract and left North London club Arsenal for the side he played for as a young lad in 2011.

Many fans believe that the signing of Cesc, which was long winded and drawn out was capricious as his ex Barca teammates wanted him back at the Catalan club and even urged the player to go on strike to force a deal through.

This hasn’t exactly been Cesc Fabregas‘ best year at the club and has been the target of fans’ discontent with some poor performances this season.
