Leo Messi: “I would have rather scored fewer goals and won more trophies”

Argentine maestro Leo Messi gave an exclusive interview to ‘ESPN’ in which he had words of praise for ex Barca coach Pep Guardiola, who he said was the reason that Barcelona conquered 14 of the 19 titles in the four years that he was in charge at the Catalan club.

“It was important from the beginning, because we hadn’t won anything for two years, the dressing room had a bad atmosphere, it was sad and Pep changed everything with his confidence, his desire and his way of working.”

Questioned about the objectives for the season that has just begun, Messi admitted that although he scored 73 goals in all competitions last year, he would rather “have scored fewer goals and won more titles”, but it was still an unforgettable season as far as goalscoring is concerned”.

“For me, hopefully this season will be like the last, but I am not thinking of any numbers” added the Argentinian star, who nonetheless stressed “that the more goals he scores, the better, and the more titles he wins, even better.”

No doubt, it was an impressive season last year for Messi with 73 goals which is truly remarkable. Hopefully the Argentine can keep knocking them in this season, too!
