Barca reach an agreement with Gareth Bale

Something that remains a priority for Barca’s coming season is for a player to fill the left back position. This is inline with Barcelona needing to reshape their squad for the 2012-13 season. The name that has been on everybody’s lips as of late is none other than Gareth Bale who is currently at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Tottenham Hotspur player has already been approached by both Chelsea and Manchester City, but now the Catalan giants Barcelona have come forward and shown some interest in the Welsh wizard. According to the Spanish TV program ‘Futboleros’ which is on the Marca TV channel, Barcelona FC have reached an agreement with the player for a figure of around 40 million euros. It is said that Welshman Gareth Bale, The player would sign a five year deal earning the player 5 million euros each season after tax.

Of course, both clubs would then have to give the go ahead to the deal whereby Bale would almost certainly have the last say. Barcelona would expect that Bale puts pressure on the London club and force them to sell him to the “Blaugranas”.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknap would be hard pressed in my opinion, to let such a player leave his current squad. Redknap, who is a great manager and who was tipped to be the next England manager has taken Tottenham to new heights this year and has built a great team in which Bale is one of the key pieces. I don’t think Harry would let Bale go that easily, who knows. I don’t think Tottenham are in need of money but the selling of Bale would most certainly let the Spurs boss strengthen his team in other departments.

I think Gareth Bale is one of those players that would probably do quite well over here in a club like Barcelona. He’s only 22 and has shown great promise so he could be very useful to the Catalan giants in adding both height and flair to their offensive game.

He’s 1m 86cm (6 feet 1″) and can run like a whippet and this would prove to be a great asset for a big club like Barca. Who knows, he could become another English legend like Gary Linneker.
