It’s a dream come true for local side l’Hospitalet as they get to challenge mighty Barcelona FC in La Copa del Rey. The local boys are fired up for this derby and it’s being billed as a David and Goliath match. November 9th will be the first leg of the showdown seeing a return leg on December 21st at the Camp Nou. It will also be a historic first meeting between these two sides.
The fourth name to come out of the hat was Barcelona FC and fate dealt them a local derby draw against humble l’Hospitalet, who are managed by a former Barça player in the shape of Jordi Vinyals. The first leg of the derby will be on November 9th at Feixa Llarga with the return at the Camp Nou on December 21st just before Christmas day.
Historic first meeting of the teams
This will be the first time these two clubs have ever met in an official fixture, although they did meet on a non-official basis in last season’s Copa Catalunya, when the current Champions League winners beat them 2-0 with goals from Dos Santos and Soriano in what was a pretty meaningless game, as Barca rivals Espanyol had already secured the Cup.
